Chamber choir JIP was founded in 2013, and has grown over the past three years under the artistic leadership of my brother Jonathan and me. Twice a year, a challenging and original acapella program is compiled around socially relevant themes. The programs are often daring and bold. Singers are expected to prepare for the rehearsals at home, and work on singing technique, stage presence, improvisation, and team-building during rehearsals, thus creating a choir with a unique and high quality sound.
JIP4 | Livet är Kort | lente 2015
Under the title ‘Livet is Kort’, ‘life is short’, numerous Scandinavian melodies sounded in various settings for soloists, ensembles, instrumentalists and mixed choir. JIP and the Olga Vocal Ensemble sang a program of purely Scandinavian music, including works by Stenhammar, Peterson-Berger, Rautavaara, Alfvén, Sibelius and Nystedt. The audience was taken along all aspects of our existence: from a wedding march to a deserted requiem and from the wonderful experiences in Scandinavian nature to wild stories from the pub; both the rough and rebellious reality of life as amazement about our existence.
As conductor of JIP4 I conducted the following pieces:
3 Korsatser – Arne Mellnäs
När natten skanker frid – Karin Rehnqvist
Biegga Luohte – Jan Sandström
Visa i vinden – Elisabet Hermodsson, arr. Gunnar Eriksson
Auringon Noustessa – Toivo Kuula
Sydämeni laulu – Einojuhani Rautavaara
From a mountain book – I. Ploeg (world premiere)
Friday 17 april 2015 – Zuiderkerk Amsterdam
Saturday 18 april 2015 – Nicolaïkerk, Utrecht
