Workshop leader - creative music making
“The arts, like ideas, can be seen as empty concepts on a shelf getting dusty. They only make sense when they come off the shelf, and you start to use these concepts in the market place, in a flesh and blood human context. And then that will generate the meaning. In this sense the arts are a form of life.” – Peter Renshaw
In this workshop series of six weeks the students learned to listen to music in a professional way, both introspective (what does music to me?) and analytic (how can I understand the music?). New ideas about the aesthetic and personal aspects of music were being applied in new compositions and musical exercises. The students gained knowledge about the theory, recent history and aesthetics of music, along with researching there own creative impulse .
